Tomate

Tomate is a solo career. He was born and grew up in Salvador-Bahia. The newspapers say that his nickname is because of his red hair, but the people are mistaken, the truth is that his nickname was originated when he had been to a beach, his mother and his brother shaved his hair, and his head turning to red because of the sun.
Tomate had sung in a band called Rapazolla, where he remained for seven years. After that, he set up his solo career. He went on a long tour in a lot of cities in Minas Gerais, and after that all Brazil.
In 2008 his career really took off. His excellent first album solo was called “Tomate ao vivo em Salvador”. In the same year, he participated of the biggest axé festival of the planet, and took the audience showing energy and excitement. But the audience was so excited, that Tomate was attacked by the public. He had broken his wrist, but this didn’t let him down.
Tomate is very smart and he is amazed by the success. He finds the attention difficult, but his fans hope that he’ll carry on making great music.
