She was born and qrew up in New York in the USA. She is the third dougther to Patricia Hickey and Alfred Roy Carey.
Mariah had worked in a beauty salon as an assistant. In her first audition she became a backing vocal of Brenda K. Starr. She had studied in Mirage and then Oldfield Middle e Harbofields High.
In 1992 her career really took off. Her second albun was called "Emotions" then on "Unplugged(MTV)" the people liked it and her. This hit was the first hit of Billboard on the fallowing week.
In 1992 Mariah an Mottola got engaged and in next year they got married.
In 2001-2004 her career fell down, but in 2008 she was one of the most influential people in the world.
Today she has carried on singing and performing on radio and on TV.
In Sony/ Columbia until 2002 she has been listenned to by more than 130 millon people(number of records sold).
